Churn Dash blocks - a traditional pattern done with modern fabrics for a fresh, but still vintage feel. I used mostly Ruby by Bonnie & Camille, but added some coordinating prints from my stash in order to make the quilt big enough for a baby or small child. I love these blocks, but I think if I make this again, I will put sashing in between. There are a lot of seams coming together at one point making for some very bulky seam allowances. I may still add a border to this - there are a bunch of 4" squares left over. I cut them into 2" squares and started sewing them together in a row, but it seemed a bit too busy. So maybe not.
Tell me what you think - a border or not?

The blocks are 9" square, finished and the top is 36.5" x 45.5"
Time to audition fabrics for the back and get to basting, quilting and binding.
Have a great weekend, hope you get some sewing time!!

Oh that is lovely! Ruby is such cool fabric, pretty colours. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty! I think, add a white border before the scrappy one and it will be perfect and nor too busy.
ReplyDeleteI love Churn Dash blocks and yours are definitely gorgeous. I agree with Marit. I would add a white border before the scrappy one and then mail it to my address.
ReplyDeleteDitto above! It's a gorgeous quilt and a white border would break it up a bit before the scrappy border - can't wait to see what you come up with :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this so much Tessa! Beautiful fabric choices. I really need to do a churn dash quilt...just another thing to add to my every growing list :)
